Fullness in Truth

Vigil on the eve of The Patron’s Day of the Diocese, in Varanasi City.

The feast day on June 24 holds special significance in the Diocese of Varanasi as Saint John the Baptist is the diocese’s patron. The Diocesan celebration began on 23rd evening in St. John’s Church DLW with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament lead by Rt. Rev. Eugene Joseph Bishop of Varanasi. During the one hour with Holy Eucharist Fr. Francis Viaggapan lead us in Praise and worship based on the characteristics of St. John the Baptist. Fr. Philip read from the Holy Gospel. On the reflection from the Gospel Bishop Eugene explained that the consecrated life should be witnessing the truth. He asked for the grace of Lord to be upon the diocese as it was on John the Baptist. Fr. Henry made the intercessory prayers and Fr. Arockia dass and Fr. Arvind with melodious Bhajans build the devotional atmosphere. Fr. Susai Raj the parish priest of St. John’s DLW thanked all the fathers from Varanasi city for their participations in the celebrations.

Though a small Diocese, Diocese of Varanasi is in a significant way a picture of Mother India. The very name of this Holy City conjures up the apex of the spirit’s endeavour in Hinduism.
