I am happy to announce result of the Biblical Competitions conducted in the diocese. Bishop Eugene J. and I express our gratitude to the priests, nuns and lay persons who were involved in preparing the participants, children and youths of parishes in the diocese of Varanasi for the competitions. It has been an encouraging sign and we could perceive hard work put in and enthusiasm exhibited in the presentation of the competition-items. I profoundly thank Rev. Fr. S. Joseph for his whole hearted co-operation using his competent computer/technological knowledge to make it a successful event. I am grateful to the judges for utilizing their knowledge, skill and competence to judge the items of the competitions; they have been competent, prompt and selfless in their service.

Considering the excellent response and quality of performance, we are happy to open another opportunity to children for celebrating Christmas with CAROL SONG AND CHRISTMAS DANCE ACTIVITIES. This will create a mood and experience of ADVENT and the NATIVITY OF JESUS. The guidelines are given below:
Points to remember:
The last date to submit the recorded items is December 20, 2020 to Rev Fr. S. Joseph.
Kindly, submit the names of the participants along with the item mentioning the parish.
The declaration of the Result will be on December 25, 2020.
The winners’ items will be streamlined on the day of Christmas.
Cash award Rs. 4000, Rs.3000 and Rs.2000 will be given to First, Second and Third respectively.
Technical Aspects:
- One Shot with Single Camera; there should not be any editing of video.
- Proper Framing: All group members should be visible from the beginning to end in CAROL SONG AND DANCE.
- Kindly, submit VIDEO FILE FORMAT IN MP4.
- You may submit video through PEN DRIVE OR DVD OR GOOGLE DRIVE.
- Video Quality should be 150 MB or above.
- Video can be shot in outdoor or indoor.
- There should be clarity of audio-video.
- There should be proper lighting and good sound

Guidelines for Items:
- CAROL SONG : Only One Entry from a Parish
- Maximum Number in the group -10
- Time limit: 5 minutes.
- Musical accompaniments are permitted; Language is Hindi
- Laypersons are allowed to accompany with the Musical instruments. Fathers and Sisters are not permitted to accompany with the Musical instruments. This is to encourage our laity participation in this event.
- CHRISTMAS DANCE: Only One Entry from a Parish
- Folk style or Semi-Classical or Classical style.
- Language should be Hindi.
- Maximum number in the group – 7
- Time limit: 6 minutes.

The Result of CATECHISM EXAM – 2020 was published in March 2020 and its certificates are ready. I request the Parish Priests to collect it at the time of Clergy Recollection and Meeting on Dec. 17, 2020. The Cash Award for the Rank Holders of Diocesan Catechism Exam – 2020, i.e. for the Fifth, Eighth, Tenth and Twelfth class students, will also be given at the time of the Clergy Meeting.
We are under the spell of CORONA PANDEMIC situation. The schools were closed and gatherings were not permitted. Hence, it would have been difficult to have the regular catechism classes as usual. However, some parishes made effort to conduct it, when it has been permitted to gather. If you have conducted classes according to the syllabus of Catechism of the diocese, I request you to conduct the exam orally based on contents of the book and the prayers printed in the last four pages of the book. Kindly, send me the marks of the students with the certificate name and their marks, placing the seal of the parish and the signature of the Parish Priest. I am grateful for your diligence and co-operation.
